The Lions were beaten 30-24 by Griquas last weekend, but the defending champions bounced back with an indomitable display in Johannesburg.

Selom Gavor started the scoring when he crossed in the fifth minute and Anthony Volmink, Dillon Smit and Jacques Nel helped secure a 27-12 lead at the interval.

After Victor Sekekete added to the Lions' advantage, Gavor touched down his second before Howard Mnisi, JW Bell and Dylan Smith added three further scores without response.

Griquas followed up their win over the defending champions by beating Pumas 41-35.
