Pulse.com.gh has gathered that, the General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Kwabena Agyepong will be suspended for fifteen months over what the party describes as gross disrespect and misconduct.
However, the NEC after deliberating accepted the report of the disciplinary committee and suspended Kwabena Agyepong for fifteen months.
This means that the embattled chief scribe will be back to his position after the 2016 general elections.
A petition to the disciplinary committee dated November 2, 2015 and signed by four party members and copied to the National Executive Committee, National Council of Elders, the leader and presidential candidate Nana AKufo-Addo, the acting national chairman, and the NPP Deputy General Secretary accused the Mr Agyepong of holding out Paul Afoko as the National Chairman contrary to the position of NEC and the NC.
According to the petitioners, Kwabena Agyepong must be sanctioned for "exhibiting gross misconduct, and engaging in deals tantamount to venality whiles in his elected position as General Secretary."
The allegiance of Kwabena Agyepong to the party has been questioned and also accused for taking unilateral decision.
The National Council and the National Executive Committee are yet to meet and affirm the suspension of Mr Agypeong.
However, embattled national chairman Paul Afoko, who lost his appeal to have his suspension reversed has sued the party and the acting national chairman Freddie Blay.
In a suit filed in an Accra High Court today, December 7, 2015, Mr. Afoko in his statement of claim insisted that he is the duly elected Chairman of the party.
The New Patriotic Party and Freddie Blay - first and second defendants respectively - have eight days to respond to the writ.
