Drew Brees waiting to hear from Saints about contract
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees says his contract negotiations are not going the way he expected.
The star QB said he has not heard anything about a contract extension from the organisation in three months.
"Not sure why things have not progressed," Brees told ESPN.
"They made an offer in March, we made an offer shortly thereafter. And besides the Josh Norman deal, there has been no talk about a contract since."
Before the Washington Redskins signed Norman, the Saints talked to Brees about restructuring his contract to incorporate the 28-year-old under their salary cap.
However, with Norman out of the picture, it should have been easy for the Saints to create some sort of extension for Brees.
The 37-year-old is entering the final season of his five-year, $100million contract.
His age might be a factor in the Saints not coming to him with a concrete deal, but the veteran has not showed any signs of slowing down.
Brees says he wants a permanent deal by the start of the regular season.
