Mali’s Health Ministry said in a statement on Friday, December 12, that the last Ebola patient had survived the disease and been released from hospital.

The ministry added that the patient had been discharged on Thursday after testing negative for the Ebola virus.
Mali recorded eight cases of the disease after a sick 2-year-old girl and an infected elderly Imam entered into the country from Guinea.
Ebola has killed over 6,000 people since the outbreak first began in March.
