The Swede, who has an official affiliation with the course in Hua Hin, followed up his??opening 65 with a??67, lifting him to 12 under as first-round pace-setter Peter Uihlein slipped back.

Edberg??was joined at the top of the leaderboard late in the day by Australia's Scott Hend, who matched the??course-record-equalling 64 Uihlein carded on Thursday courtesy of six birdies and an eagle.

Hend,??22 over for the tournament at??last week's WGC-Cadillac Championship,??started birdie-eagle and finished with back-to-back gains??for the second day in succession after making up further ground on the sixth, 12th and 13th.

"After a lacklustre effort last week at the WGC in Miami, we'll see what comes now," said Hend, the runner-up in the 2015 edition of this tournament. "It's good to get into position once again for the weekend."

Edberg also benefited from a strong finish, picking up shots on 15, 16 and 17, while Thailand's??Panuphol Pittayarat sits??one off the pace after a bogey-free 65.

Uihlein (71) was undermined by a pair of sixes on Friday, but did manage to birdie the last two, like Hend, to share fourth at nine under.

Alongside Uihlein are Simon Yates, David Lipsky, Rhys Davies??and??Shaun Norris, who all carded??68s, while Benjamin Hebert was another man to shoot 64 - an eagle at the sixth the highlight of a round that lifted the Frenchman into contention at eight under.
