Officials of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) say the mistake occurred when government was making attempts to clean the payroll of ghost names.
The biometric verification system enrolled to enforce that all public sector workers get validated by Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is also blamed for the mistake
On May Day, President Nana Akufo-addo announced that close to 27,000 ghosts have been expunged from the payroll saving the country about GHS 450million.
