PNC flagbearer to announce journalist as running mate
The People’s National Convention (PNC) flagbearer, Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama has hinted he will settle on a Journalist as his running mate for the November 2016 elections.
Speaking on Metro TV's Good Evening Ghana, the five- time Presidential Candidate of the PNC said will surely be in the runoff in the 2016 election, as no party will be able to make 30 per cent of votes cast.
“The PNC is not going to support other parties should the 2016 election goes into a runoff as we have done in the past. History does not always repeat itself. My party and I have previously thrown our weight behind others however, 2016 is the time for others to also support the PNC win the elections”, he added.
Dr. Mahama was beaten by Hassan Ayariga to the flag bearer slot in 2012.
He received 3.0% of the votes in the 1996 elections. In his second attempt at the presidency in 2000, he won 2.5% of the votes. He placed third out of four candidates during the 2004 elections, winning 1.9% of the votes. His last contest was in the 2008 presidential elections.
