Presidential hopefuls are expected to return with the completed nomination forms and the filing fee of Gh¢50,000 by September 30. Parliamentary candidates are also to pay 10,000.

Presidential and parliamentary hopefuls have today September 29 and Friday September 30 to file their nomination forms in order to contest the elections.

They are expected to return their forms with an amount of Gh¢50,000 for presidential hopefuls and Gh¢10,000 for  those who want to be parliamentarians.

Some political parties have argued that the filing fee is expensive while others believe otherwise.

One of the leading parties against the increase in the filing fees, the Progressive Peoples Party has filed a suit in court on the matter.

A week ago (September 29, 2016), the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Charlotte Osei said twenty-three people have picked up nomination forms to contest this year’s presidential elections.
