I’ll ensure violence-free elections - Mahama

President Mahama said it is incumbent upon all political parties and the Electoral Commission to play their respective roles in delivering a credible, free and fair election.

His comment comes at the back of a violence which erupted at the Nima residence of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akufo-Addo, on Sunday morning for reasons yet to be made public but according to the NPP, the incident is part of series of activities planned by the National Democratic Congress.

Addressing captains of industry in Accra as part of his campaign in the region, he said "when we are getting to elections, the political rhetoric rises, I urge you not to be afraid or frightened because it will not lead to any blow-up. Ghana has a history of peaceful and transparent processes during elections."

He noted that "The upcoming elections will not be different from the previous one. I will play my part as president and commander-in- chief to ensure that we have a stable, secure environment for people to cast their ballot."
