Fox's season 1 finale breaks record

Fox' 'Empire' season undefinedwas every shade of awesome, and was watched by 16.7 million viewers, getting a 6.5 rating among adults 18-49.

The finale delivered the best first season result any new series has had since the Shonda Rhimes created Gended its debut season on ABC in 2005.

Empire now has surpassed CBS’ in the adult demo to rank as broadcast’s top-rated TV series.

The finale also gave FOX its highest-rated Wednesday night in more than three years.
