WHO declares Liberia an Ebola-free country after 42 days of no new cases

Another African country has been declared free of the terrible disease that has plagued the continent in recent months.

Following Nigeria, the World Health Organisation has declared that Liberia is free of Ebola as there have been no new cases for 42 days, twice the maximum incubation period of the deadly disease.

But new cases were reported elsewhere in West Africa this week, in neighbouring Sierra Leone and in Guinea, the other two countries hit hardest by the worst Ebola outbreak in history.
