Gov’t communicators make irrelevant arguments – Kwesi Pratt

He blamed their failure to effectively perform their duties to their “over enthusiasm to please authority, especially to please the President” which he said often “leads to the commission of errors.”

The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has criticized government communicators for making irrelevant arguments in defence of the Mahama Ford Expedition scandal.

He said the reactions they have so far given on the scandal are “shocking and lack relevance.”

Last week, it was revealed that in 2012, President John Mahama received a brand new Ford Expedition vehicle by a Burkinabe contractor, Djibril Kanazoe after he was given the contract to construct the $650,000 Ghana Embassy wall in the Burkina Faso capital, Ouagadougou.

The Convention People's Party (CPP), the Progressive People's Party (PPP) and a private citizen has so far petitioned the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the matter, while some are demanding the resignation of the President.

In response, President Mahama has dared his critics to initiate processes to prove he is corrupt.

Speaking on Accra-based Radio Gold, Mr. Kwesi Pratt remarked that government communicators must endeavour to “be properly focused on the issue and stop bringing in extraneous matters” into the raging debtae.

“Let us speak to plain facts; let us do proper interpretation and if everybody did their work well, perhaps, the presidency will be safe from some of these needless, diversionary, cacophonous, vituperations. It is possible but eye service, eye service, too much eye service,” he complained.
