Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood has revealed that she will retire in May 2017.

She announced this at a special service to open the 59th legal year.
Addressing judges and lawyers at the service she asked that Ghanaians pray for her for a successful end if tenure.

She said she was grateful to all who helped her through her journey as the Chief Justice.
During her tenure, the Judiciary has had to handle some landmark cases in the country. These include the infamous election petition after the 2012 polls and the Anas expose.
