Aduana Stars sink Hearts of Oak in Dormaa
Aduana Stars fine form in the ongoing Ghana Premier League continued as they beat Hearts of Oak 2-0 on match day five on Sunday at the Dormaa Park
The home side went into the game with an attacking mentality – they besieged the goal area of the Phobians and with 10 minutes played the Dormaa giants broke the deadlock.
The goal came after Daniel Darkwa headed home Godfred Saka’s cross from the left hand side of the Phobians defense.
The Phobians began to warm themselves into the game but they failed to break Aduana Stars backline.
Hearts of Oak shot themselves in the foot again as Derrick Sasraku doubled the home side’s lead in the 18 minute after he connected home Saka’s corner-kick.
Aduana Stars were left off the hook in the 40 minute after Thomas Abbey’s shot hit the right post and back off the left post of Stephen Adams.
From the recess, the Phobians were the better side as they pushed a lot of bodies upfront but Aduana Stars back four led by Emmanuel Akuoko was hand to keep Hearts of Oak attackers at bay.
The Phobians exerted a lot of energy in the game with the hope of staging a comeback, but the Dormaa lads kept their shape as they prevented the Phobians attackers.
Aduana Stars also initiated an attack of their own which they had a free-kick but the resulted kick was headed wide by Tanko Mohammed.
The Phobians went on attack again, Kouassi teed up Abbey, but the latter’s shot feebly into then waiting hands of Stephen Adams.
It was back and forth in the last final minutes of the game – Mensah denied the hosts their third goal after he tipped out Nathaniel Asamoah’s snap shot.
With five minutes left on the clock the Phobians mounted an intense pressure on the Dormaa side but the hosts defended gallantly to protect their two goals.
