It is alleged that the gods in whose custody the gold had been kept for spiritual purification later revealed the thieves to the fetish priestess, Lovia  Cobbina who happens to be the sister of the 19-year-old Kwabena Mensah.

The owner had reportedly brought the gold to the shrine on July 31, 2017, to undergo purification rituals before it is sold to a dealer in Kumasi.

According to Detective Chief Inspector Nyamekye, the gods allegedly revealed the suspects to the owner of the shrine upon consultation and she proceeded to lodge a complaint with the police.

He said at the Nsuta Circuit Court that, it was until August 6, 2017, that the priestess discovered the gold had been missing when the owner came to retrieve it.

Agyei admitted receiving the gold from his friend but pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him. He has however failed to produce the gold.

Surprisingly, Kwabena Mensah pleaded not guilty.

The two have been remanded in prison custody by the court, presided over by Ms. Lydia Osei Marfo to re-appear on August 31, 2017.
