Steve Stricker, Bo Van Pelt two back in Rhode Island
There are two teams tied for the lead at the CVS Charity Classic in Rhode Island, with two-time defending champions Steve Stricker and Bo Van Pelt two strokes back.
After one round of the team strokeplay format, Harris English and Lexi Thompson are at 11 under - as are Jon Curran and Keegan Bradley at the Rhode Island Country Club.
Bill Haas and Webb Simpson are one back at 10 under, unable to pick up shots in their final four holes as they settled for third place at the midway point.
Curran/Bradley and English/Thompson were both two back from Haas/Simpson after 14 holes but stormed home with three birdies in their final four holes respectively.
Aiming for a three-peat, Stricker/Van Pelt are not far away - but they also failed to gain ground in their final four holes.
Stricker and Van Pelt are tied for fourth with Russell Henley and Morgan Pressel, while Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon (eight under) are one shot back - level with Erik Compton and Suzann Pettersen.
Billy Horschel and Jimmy Walker were one over through five, but steadied to reach seven under through 18, tied with JB Holmes and Hunter Mahan.
Clear last in the 10-team field are Juli Inkster and Peter Jacobsen, the pair's score never deviating beyond either even-par or one under - eventually carding for the latter.
