Goromaru sustained an AC joint separation during the Reds' 35-25 win over Sunwolves on Saturday.

The 30-year-old Japan international, who was hurt in the 57th minute at Suncorp Stadium, is expected to be sidelined for 12 weeks, ruling him out of the Reds' three remaining Super Rugby fixtures.

"I'm disappointed I can't play out the rest of the season with my Reds team-mates and I'm obviously disappointed to be missing out on the June Test series with Japan [against Canada and Scotland]," Goromaru said. "I've had a fantastic time in Australia and now I just want to work hard on my recovery. I'm looking forward to what challenges are ahead."

Saturday's match at home to Sunwolves could have been Goromaru's last as a Reds player amid speculation linking him with a move to Top 14 side Toulon next season.
