Rahal made a late move on James Hinchcliffe to secure his win by just 0.0080 seconds at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Tony Kanaan was a narrow third, while Simon Pagenaud also finished within a second of Rahal.

Despite an incredible finish to the race, Hinchcliffe still appeared the most likely winner before Rahal's move on the final turn.

The race in Texas began on June 12, but rain delays led to the re-scheduling.

Pagenaud extended his lead atop the championship, leading Will Power – who finished eighth – by 28 points.
