Ambitious Haas F1 are confident of achieving a points finish when they make their debut at the Australian Grand Prix, says team principal Gunther Steiner.

New teams in Formula One have found it difficult to compete in the sport in recent years, with the likes of Marussia and Caterham scrapping it out at the back of the grid - the latter subsequently leaving the sport after 2014 having fallen into administration and the former being rebranded Manor after also financial issues.

However, American-based Haas have the benefit of a 2015-model Ferrari power unit for their debut season in the sport.

And with talented duo Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutierrez behind the wheel, Steiner is sure Haas can get off to a flyer.

"We would like to make the points. Qualifying, if we get to Q2 we will be fine," Steiner told Sky Sports.

"To have a chance of points is our goal and to put on a good show. To show what we have worked the last two years for and we have no big dramas going on. That is our biggest aim at the moment."
