He made the call on the floor of parliament when the Governor was summoned to brief the house on the circumstances surrounding the squandering of depositors’ money by DKM, Jasta Motors, and God is Love Fun club.

According to Dr. Opoku Prempeh, Dr.  Wampah must stand down as he and the Central Bank’s lack of supervision of microfinance companies led to the loss of huge sums of money belonging to customers.

“Mister Speaker it is a serious case. And the companies come directly under the supervision of the Bank of Ghana, so the Governor must stand down for the lack of supervision of proper microfinance companies. The President said it himself, the Bank of Ghana did not  effectively supervise the sector resulting in Ghanaians losing their monies to these rogue microfinance companies," he said

The Governor, however, according to the constitution cannot be fired by the president, and so  Dr. Opoku Prempeh wants the governor to do the honourable thing by  resigning.
