The three-week ban, which was one of the rites that precedes the celebration of the festival, was to enable the chiefs and elders to pray to the gods for abundant harvest.

The Homowo Festival, which is celebrated to “hoot at hunger,” is celebrated by the people of the Ga-Dangme Traditional Area.

The Paramount Chief and President of the Osu Traditional Council, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, expressed gratitude to the people for observing the ban peacefully.

He asked them to continue to maintain the peace and lend their support to the Council to provide the necessary development to improve their living standards.
