'I misunderstood the twi language used'- BongoIdeas retracts defamatory claims against Alpha Hour
Ghanaian social media commentator Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as BongoIdeas, has issued a public apology and retraction for previous statements he made about Alpha Hour and its leader, Pastor Elvis Agyemang.
The apology, dated Saturday, January 17, 2026, follows a press release issued by Alpha Hour on January 15, 2026, demanding an immediate retraction of alleged defamatory statements posted on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
In his statement, BongoIdeas acknowledged that some aspects of Esther Smith’s interview, particularly the alleged monetary amount, were misunderstood due to difficulties interpreting the Twi language. He confirmed that this led to an inaccurate portrayal of the facts.
He said,
After further review and careful listening to the audio interview featuring Esther Smith, I acknowledge that some aspects of her statements, specifically the alleged monetary amount, were misunderstood due to challenges in interpreting the Twi language used. This led to an inaccurate portrayal of the facts.
BongoIdeas also clarified that all the false claims he made was deleted immediately Esther Smith provided clarification on the incident that happened to her.
I would like to clarify that the posts in question were subsequently deleted after Esther Smith provided clarification, which addressed and corrected the misunderstanding
He expressed regret for any inconvenience, reputational harm, or confusion his publications may have caused to Alpha Hour, its leadership, and Pastor Elvis Agyemang.
He emphasied that his retraction was made in good faith and without malice. The statement read:

The apology comes days after Alpha Hour and its leadership demanded an immediate retraction of the allegedly defamatory statements, which had claimed Esther Smith was charged £300,000 for prayers and suggested Pastor Agyemang could not be trusted.
