Alpha Hour and its leader, Pastor Elvis Agyemang, have demanded an immediate retraction of what they describe as false and defamatory statements published by social media commentator Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as BongoIdeas.

In a press statement issued on January 15, 2026, the leadership of Alpha Hour said its attention had been drawn to a series of posts made by BongoIdeas on Facebook and Instagram on January 14, 2026, which it described as malicious, misleading and damaging to the reputation of the Christian prayer movement and its leader.

The posts in question alleged that gospel musician Esther Smith was charged £300,000 by Alpha Hour for prayers over a threat to her life.

The publication also included comments suggesting that Pastor Elvis Agyemang could not be trusted and accused religious leaders of enriching themselves through such activities.

Alpha Hour and its leadership categorically denied the allegations, describing them as entirely false, defamatory and unsupported by facts.

The statement said the claims amounted to character assassination and were deliberately calculated to undermine the credibility and integrity of both Alpha Hour and Pastor Elvis Agyemang.

The leadership further noted that the alleged statements attributed to Esther Smith were misleading and contradicted by the video and audio materials shared alongside the posts.

According to the statement, the management of Esther Smith has also issued a separate press release on January 15, 2026, firmly denying the claims circulated by BongoIdeas.

It clarified that rather than charging Esther Smith for prayers, Alpha Hour officially invited and contracted the gospel musician to minister at the Alpha Hour Convocation held on December 30, 2025, alongside other Christian ministers.

Alpha Hour has therefore called on BongoIdeas to immediately retract the publications and cease further circulation of the alleged defamatory content.
