The Assin South Police Commander ASP Andam Otchere, who confirmed the incident said the amount, which came in GHS1, GHS2, GHSS20, GHS50, 10- and 20-pesewa denominations were impounded in 32 fertiliser and jute sacks otherwise known as ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags.

Police in Assin South in the Central Region have impounded an amount of GHC83, 000 in a trotro bounded for Kumasi from the Tantra bus station in Cape Coast, Tuesday.

He said the driver when stopped by highway police for interrogation could not tell the owner of the money found in his car.

“At the time the driver was arrested, he did not tell us whom he was transporting the money to. He was quiet and even his name he didn’t disclose to us,” ASP Otchere told Accra-based Joy FM.

He said that the case has been forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Cape Coast regional police headquarters for further investigations.
