Developing countries to surpass European countries in tourism - UNWTO

A few years past, advanced economies, mostly Europeans, were the most-favored tourist destination by far. However, in recent time, emerging economies seem to be playing a dominant role in the game or global tourism.

According to a projection by the United Nations World Tourism Org.(UNWTO), these emerging economies will soon be the choice for most international tourist as compared to their European counterpart.

The reports project this timeline to 2020 as developing countries are already holding about 40% of total tourist arrival and almost 50% of all tourist spend is in these countries.
International tourism growth was relatively stagnate year-over-year in places like France while Mexico’s growth experienced acceleration.
