Anderson pleaded guilty to a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct after the clash with veteran Herath on day three of the final Test of the series on Saturday.

England's leading wicket-taker was also punished for showing disrespect to S. Ravi after the umpire warned him against verbally engaging with Herath.

Anderson, the world's top-ranked Test bowler, will lose half of his match fee as a result of his conduct and has been issued with a warning by the governing body.
