Jarryd Hayne has been selected in Fiji's squad for the last round of World Sevens Series, handing his Olympic dreams a potential boost.

Hayne left NRL outfit Parramatta Eels in 2014 to pursue a career in the NFL with San Francisco 49ers, but found his opportunities limited.

Earlier this month, Hayne announced his retirement from American football, confirming his intention to play for Fiji sevens at the upcoming Rio Olympics.

And those dreams appear to be on track after Friday's squad announcement, with Hayne one of 12 men selected for the World Sevens Series in London.
