Jenrry Mejia will be given 'fair consideration' for reinstatement
Banished former New York Mets reliever Jenrry Mejia will be given "fair consideration" for reinstatement when he is eligible in 2018, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said on Tuesday.
With that being said, Manfred did not have many kind words for Mejia's attorney, Vincent White.
Last month, White accused MLB of "dirty cop tactics and hacking players' online accounts".
Manfred did not take too kindly to the idea.
"First of all, let me say, the allegations made by Mr. Mejia's attorney are utterly and completely without factual foundation," Manfred told reporters, via ESPN.
"I think we've been pretty clear about that.
"And I don't think it's ever a positive, in any relationship, when somebody goes out and says things that are not true.
"Having said that, he has right to file for reinstatement. If and when he does that, I'll give that request for reinstatement fair consideration."
Mejia was banned from baseball for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs three times.
