Keys to face Strycova in Birmingham final

Madison Keys will face Barbora Strycova in the Aegon Classic final after they beat Carla Suarez Navarro and Coco Vandeweghe respectively in Saturday's semi-finals.

Suarez Navarro took the first set against Keys, but the 21-year-old fought back to book her spot in Sunday's showpiece with a 3-6 6-3 7-6 (7-3) win.

Keys struggled against the Suarez Navarro serve in the opener, the Spaniard dropping only three service points and breaking at 3-2 to get off to a flying start in Birmingham.

But the American responded, breaking to love at 3-2 and serving out the second set without dropping a point on her serve.

The third set was a closer affair and a deciding tie-break was needed, with Keys playing aggressively on her forehand to force a mini-break at 3-2, then after Suarez Navarro floated a drop shot wide, the seventh seed took her first match point.

Meanwhile, Strycova – runner-up at the event in 2014 – came from behind to beat Coco Vandeweghe, who won last week's Ricoh Open, 2-6 6-4 6-4.

Vandeweghe's power was initially too much for Strycova, who was broken three times in a row in the opening set.

Strycova fell behind early in the second set too, but the Czech showed terrific grit to break twice and level the match.

A frustrated Vandeweghe lost focus in the decider and was tearful at a changeover after being broken, then Strycova converted her fourth match point to reach the final.
