After tearing the patella tendon from his patella bone when landing after contesting a high ball while representing Super Rugby franchise Waratahs in May, Beale was expected to spend between four and six months out.

The 60-cap Australia international had his move to Wasps confirmed one day prior to sustaining the injury.

Although Beale remains unsure of when he will make his Premiership debut - though the club have expressed hope it will be in November - he is ready to turn up the intensity on his return to fitness.

"I'm very happy I'm here now and ready to work hard and rip into my rehab and try to get back as fit as possible for the Wasps," he said in an interview on the club's official YouTube channel.

"The first three months was quite tough, but the surgeon said it's in a really good position to push forward with my rehab. The medical staff here, we are going to work out a plan.

"At the moment there's no date set, but I think the main focus for me is to just concentrate on my rehab and not think about the end of the tunnel too much.

"There's a lot of hard work to go - the injury was pretty major. I haven't really suffered anything like that before so I really want to work hard and try not to miss any gaps so when I hit the ground running I'll be in full flight and enjoying my rugby again."
