Kvitova serves up double bagel for Chirico

Petra Kvitova enjoyed the perfect start to life under new coach Frantisek Cermak, coasting into round two of the Stuttgart Open with a 6-0 6-0 thrashing of American teenager Louisa Chirico.

In her first match since announcing the hiring of Cermak last week, fifth seed Kvitova produced a polished display to exorcise memories of early exits on her last two visits to Stuttgart.

Twenty-nine winners helped the powerful Czech demolish her opponent in 55 minutes and set up a meeting with Monica Niculescu or Caroline Garcia.

There was a similarly routine win for Carla Suarez Navarro, the seventh seed reeling off 11 games in succession to beat Oceane Dodin 6-3 6-0 in Tuesday's final contest.

Ana Ivanovic also won the second set of her match against Carina Witthoeft without losing a game, although the young German had proven much more competitive in the opener, which she led 5-3 before losing a tie-break.

Two of Witthoeft's compatriots were able to reach the second round. Yet another one-sided set went the way of Laura Siegemund as she beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-0 7-5, while Annika Beck beat Camila Giorgi 6-4 6-2.

Siegemund will go on to face Simona Halep, while a meeting with second seed Angelique Kerber awaits Beck on Wednesday.
