Langer: I believe I can win

Bernhard Langer believes he is capable of securing a stunning third Masters triumph at the age of 58, after ending Saturday's penultimate round just two shots behind leader Jordan Spieth.

Thirty-one years on from the first of his two victories at Augusta, Langer delivered a vintage performance to move firmly into contention for a remarkable, record-breaking win.

Should he prevail on Sunday, the veteran German would become the oldest winner of a major by more than a decade.

Yet after getting the better of world number one Jason Day in round three, carding 70 to his playing partner's 71 and leaping into a tie for third at one under with Hideki Matsuyama, Langer certainly cannot be discounted.

Asked if he can win again at Augusta, the 1985 and 1993 champion replied: "I believe I can. Obviously it depends how the others do.

"If I play my best, I can shoot four  or five under tomorrow, I think, if the conditions are a little bit better. But so can Jordan Spieth or any of the others on the leaderboard. I can only play my game and see how that holds up

"For a 58 year old, it's fun to be in this position and play with the best in the world."
