Leeds Rhinos beat Hull KR in Super League

Leeds Rhinos ensured they will play four home matches in the Super 8 Qualifiers after triumphing 24-20 in an entertaining contest at Hull Kingston Rovers on Thursday.

It has been a desperately disappointing campaign for last season's treble winners Rhinos, but they made it five wins in their past six Super League outings with their victory at Craven Park.

Brian McDermott's side twice had to come from behind to see off a spirited Rovers side in their final match of the regular season, as tries from James Keinhorst, Rob Burrow, James Segeyaro and Ryan Hall helped avenge a 30-10 defeat back in April.

Rovers struck first when John Boudebza's clever close-range kick was pounced on by Matty Marsh.

A quickfire double put the Rhinos in front, though, Keinhorst going over first with a fine individual effort before veteran Burrow bamboozled the home defence after receiving Liam Sutcliffe's pass.

The game turned back in Rovers' favour either side of half-time. Maurice Blair brought the home side back within two points after receiving Albert Kelly's clever offload, before Ken Sio scored a contentious try.

Sio had seemingly knocked on deep in his own territory during an aerial duel, from which Kelly picked up the loose ball and kicked behind the Leeds defence for Thomas Minns to play in Sio. The video referee was used to check for offside, but did not spot Sio's initial infringement.

Leeds came back strong again, though, as Segeyaro touched down for his first Rhinos try and Hall reacted quickly to a Minns knock on in the closing stages to put Leeds out of sight.

Rovers brought it back within four straight from kick-off with Kieran Dixon going over, but it was too little too late as the Rhinos climbed to ninth to make sure of four home matches in the Qualifiers.
