After a number of drivers had gone wide at turn two throughout the weekend, a bollard was put in place, which drivers are meant to keep left of before rejoining the track.

During Q1, Hamilton ran wide but rejoined on the wrong side of the bollard and after investigation from the race stewards, has been reprimanded but no further penalty has been attached.

It is Hamilton's second reprimand of the season, with a third carrying an automatic 10-place grid penalty.

The news exacerbates a miserable day for Hamilton, who qualified 10th after yet more power troubles, while Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg took pole and looks well set to increase his standings leader over the Briton.
