The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democractic Congress (NDC) of preparing to bus in Togolese to register in the limited registration exercise which starts today, Thursday, April 28.
In an interview on Accra-based Joy FM, Mr. Amewu said the ruling NDC has engaged in infrastructural projects such as the construction of roads in villages in Togo in order to entice the Togolese to come and vote for the NDC in the November polls.
He said the NDC government has extended electricity from the Volta region to Kametornu, a town in Togo.
But, the Deputy General Secretary of NDC, Koku Anyidohu, has described the claim as mere speculation.
“...I don’t think we are going to allow the NPP to derail us.
"They [the NPP] are the ones who have spent a lot of time not training their agents; they have not spent a lot of time educating their people. What they have done is to continuously create unnecessary stories," he said, adding that "It is time for registration and the NDC is prepared for it."
The Limited Voters Registration exercise which has been scheduled to start from Thursday, April 28 and end on Sunday, May 8, will afford Ghanaians who attain 18 years to exercise their franchise during the 2016 elections and beyond.
