Court to rule on defence's application on Monday

An Abeka District Court has set Monday, March 27 to rule on the application submitted by defence counsel praying the court to order the prosecution to furnish the defence team with all documents they intend to rely on for their prosecution.

Counsel for the accused, Augustine Asafo Adjei, moving his application, said the request, if granted, would ensure a more informed defence for their client.

Chief Inspector Hanson Armah, the police prosecutor in the matter, however, opposed the application by the defence lawyer.

The court, presided over by Victoria Afua Guansah subsequently ordered the prosecution to file its statement in opposition Friday, March 24.

Both parties are expected to be in court at 1 pm on Friday for determination of the recent turn out of the case.

Jihad Chaaban, a supervisor at Marwako Fast Food at Abelenkpe in Accra, is in court for allegedly dipped the face of a kitchen staffer Evelyn Boakye into pepper paste.

Meanwhile, management of the restaurant has suspended the supervisor until the matter is resolved.
