Seven politicians have been named as top users of abusive language on radio in the latest language monitoring report by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA).

According to the report, Former General Secretary of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, also known as Sir John; a communication member of the same party, Mr Hopeson Adorye; and Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Joseph Yamin, have topped the list of politicians who used abusive language on radio

The others were Charles Owusu, a member of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) communication team; Daasebre Dwamena, a presenter on Kumasi-based Ashh FM; Yaw Adomako Baafi, Deputy Communications Director of the NPP; and Ernest Owusu Bempah, Communications Director of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

The latest report is based on monitoring of 972 programmes on 40 radio stations across the country for the period of May 16-31, 2016.

In all, 58 indecent expressions were recorded on 17 out of the 40 radio stations monitored.
