Bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed has called for a reaction from Pakistan after their T20 humbling against New Zealand in Wellington.

Pakistan must quickly bounce back from their 10-wicket defeat at the hands of New Zealand to avoid the Twenty20 series slipping away, says coach Mushtaq Ahmed.

After winning the opening match of their tour, Pakistan were unable to live with the big hitting of Martin Guptill (87 not out) and Kane Williamson (72no) at the top of the order, who combined for a T20I record partnership to secure a stunning victory.

Mushtaq warned his players they cannot let the defeat affect their morale, though, given they have the deciding match in Wellington on Friday.

"As a professional team you should be up for it [the final game]," he said. "We should not let ourselves get down so quickly.

"Professional people bounce back, good teams do that, this is our role to tell them it is time to stand up and deliver best skills they can.

"Obviously we [the coaching staff] have got to sit and think about it [tactics], plans will come, we will be discussing how we can improve.

"I think maybe we can develop more variation in the bowling and a bit more smart fielding positions."
