Hooker Peats is set to link up with the Titans this week in a switch that came about as the Eels strive to get back under the salary cap.

The 25-year-old will feature for the Titans for the rest of this season and the 2017 campaign and could make his debut against Sydney Roosters next Monday.

Parramatta were confident they would meet salary cap requirements before facing South Sydney Rabbitohs as they battle to salvage their season after being docked 12 points

The Eels were docked all their competition points and fined one million Australian dollars, with 250,000 AUD potentially suspended, after the NRL found they had breached the cap in five of the past six years.

A statement on the Titans' official website said: "Parramatta hooker Nathan Peats has tonight agreed to terms to play for the Aquis Gold Coast Titans for the remainder of 2016 and the 2017 seasons.

"The 25-year-old, who has played 89 NRL games for Parramatta and South Sydney and has also played back row, will leave Sydney for the Gold Coast in coming days. "There will be no further comment from the club at this stage."
