President Issoufou was re-elected for a second term by a landslide in a controversial run-off election in March.

The Vice President, Mr K. B. Amissah-­Arthur, on Saturday visited Niamey, Niger for the investiture of President Issoufou Mahamadou.

The Vice President was accompanied by the National Security Advisor Ambrose Baba Kamara and the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Ahaji Collins Dauda.

The Vice President and his entourage have since returned to Ghana.

According to Niger's Electoral Commission, the incumbent President he had over 90% of the votes.

The opposition however, boycotted the elections after alleging voter fraud.
