Manchester United sack Louis van Gaal

The Dutch manager replaced David Moyes who took over after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement at the Old Trafford club.

Van Gaal’s contact was terminated on Monday, two years into a three-year contract having won the FA Cup for Manchester United over the weekend.

The club however failed to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, a factor that played a key role in the manager’s departure from the Manchester club.
