Sebastien Ogier has made a good start in his bid for a first ever WRC win in Argentina as the championship leader tied Dani Sordo for the lead after the first stage.

The Frenchman and the Spaniard took one minute, 29 seconds to finish the 1.5km course in Cordoba, leading Ott Tanak by just a tenth of a second.

Sordo was on course for the lead after his superb drive in his Hyundai but Ogier matched him in his Volkswagen, despite making a mistake.

"I lost a good second with a mistake after the jump," said Ogier.

"It was great to be here tonight, there were a lot of people and it was a good atmosphere. The stage was spectacular and it was good to be equal fastest, but things really start tomorrow."
