Gloucester recorded their first win of the 2016-17 Premiership campaign with an impressive away performance against Sale Sharks on Friday.

After losing to Leicester Tigers and drawing with Worcester Warriors last time out, Gloucester only had four points to their name prior to kick-off, but a 26-13 win saw them double their tally.

From the outset the visitors were impressive at the AJ Bell Stadium, John Afoa going over in only the ninth minute to open the scoring.

Greig Laidlaw added the extras but Sam James dragged Sale back to within two with a score four minutes later.

Sale remained in touching distance after Will Addison and Laidlaw had exchanged penalties, but Gloucester then stepped on the gas as Charlie Sharples registered a second try just before the break.

Laidlaw nailed the conversion before booting over three second-half penalties to complete the win for Gloucester.
