Pinturault claims third straight giant slalom win
Alexis Pinturault claimed a second FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup giant slalom victory of the weekend in Hinterstoder as Marcel Hirscher extended his lead at the top of the overall standings.
Having beaten Hirscher to victory on Friday, Pinturault did the same on Sunday, taking top spot ahead of the Austrian and Henrik Kristoffersen.
Pinturault led the way by 0.47 seconds from Felix Neureuther after the first run in Austria, setting the pace with a mark of one minute and 20.56 secs.
And, while Neureuther faltered on the second run, Pinturault - who won the giant slalom in Yuzawa Naeba this month - went fastest again to become the second Frenchman to win three successive World Cup giant slalom races.
Pinturault's triumph also marks his fourth of the month with the 24-year-old having also won the super combined in Chamonix and his fifth of the season.
Hirscher finished 1.14 secs off the pace, but 0.12 secs ahead of Kristoffersen, stretching his advantage over the Norwegian in the overall standings by a further 20 points as he seeks a fifth successive title.
The defending champion's lead now stands at 283 points.
Pinturault is fifth in the overall rankings and second in the giant slalom classification, trailing Hirscher by 131 points.
