Pinturault secures victory in Japan
Alexis Pinturault secured victory in the Men’s Giant Slalom on Saturday after finishing half a second ahead of compatriot Mathieu Faivre.
It was Pinturault's second win of the 2015-16 Alpine Skiing World Cup after he took out the Alpine Combined event in Hahnenkamm, Austria last month.
The Frenchman finished +0.51 seconds ahead of Faivre in Yuzawa Naeba after posting an impressive time in his first run.
Frintz Dopper (+1.45) had the quickest time in the first run but the German was almost two seconds behind Pinturault in following run, finishing in seventh overall.
Italian Massimiliano Blardone (+0.67) finished in third behind the French duo.
Henrik Kristoffersen (+0.77), who is second in the overall leaderboard, finished in fourth place, while Victor Muffat-Jeandet (+0.91) completed the top five.
Overall World Cup leader Marcel Hirscher (+1.31) came in sixth.
