Speaking to Accra-based Citi News Apasara who is a member of the PNC revealed that the party Chairman Bernard Mornah was sleeping when the form was being filled.

“Your party members are thrown off, without any head. They are all confused. I will blame Mr Mornah because I was reliably informed that he was sleeping in his office when they were filling the presidential nomination forms. He was sleeping. Why would you show that kind of lukewarmness? Who asked you to take over the leadership?”

He accused the leadership of the party of dereliction of duty so as to avoid an embarrassment of this nature.

“The leadership of the party is the cause. If you have a Flagbearer, it is the duty of the Chairman and the executives to work hard and make sure we complete the filing of forms in a very proper manner but not to sit down and you are embarrassed at the last minute.”

Meanwhile, the Director of Communication of the PNC Emmanuel Wilson earlier blamed the General Secretary of the party for the same incident. He said Atik Mohammed did not attach any seriousness to the filling of the forms.

“The general secretary did not do his work well. He did not attach the seriousness that needed to be attached to the filling of the nomination.”

Edward Mahama and 12 others  including the PPP's Dr Kwasi Ndoum and former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings  were disqualified by the EC from contesting in the December 7 over some anomalies on their nomination forms.

The EC is expected to return their filing fees to them and the police will also withdraw the security personnel given them.
