Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis is open to Mohammad Amir returning to the international scene after his suspension for involvement in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal.

Amir was deemed to have bowled two deliberate no-balls in a Test match against England in 2010 and banned by the International Cricket Council for five years.

The 23-year-old was also found guilty of conspiracy to cheat at gambling and of conspiracy to accept corrupt payments by a British Crown Court, the bowler serving half of a six-month custodial sentence.

Amir, free to play all forms of cricket since September, has impressed for Chittagong Vikings in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) with 11 wickets at 14.45, leading to calls from some for a return to the Pakistan set-up.

"We had a detailed discussion on Mohammad Amir and we all are on same page," Waqar said. "If he has served his punishment he deserves to come back in the community and enhance his profession.

"If he has been given permission to play in BPL there's no wrong thing in it. He is in very good form.

"He has proved it. He has proved to the ICC, he has proved to the PCB that he is on the right track and it's our responsibility that we should give him another opportunity."

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan echoed Waqar's thoughts and confirmed Amir could be considered for future Pakistan squads.

"We are considering Mohammad Amir," Shaharyar added. "It looks like he has performed well over the last four-five months and is knocking on the door for us to consider him.

"If coach and selectors decide that he has to come, we will ask the board of governors before taking a decision on him."
