Books have a strong influence on our lives and its so powerful how they shape the way we see the world. From religious texts to fiction, people live to take in as much words as possible.

lovereading.com compiled a list of the most popular books of all time using the number of editions, translations, and copies sold.

At the top of the list is the Qur'an, the holy book of Muslims. The book, which was mostly known by heart in its early days was finally compiled into a book form for preservation. It has been translated to over 50 languages.

The book, or parts of it, is memorised by hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide.

Coming in second is the King James Bible. It is the third approved English translation by the Church Authorities and was completed in 1611.
