4 killed in galamsey pit collapse

 
 
The incident which happened Tuesday night between the hours of 7:00 and 8:00 also left two other galamseyers critically injured.

Four persons have met their untimely death after a galamsey pit collapsed on them at Prestea Ankobra in the Prestea Huni-Valley District of the Western Region.

One of the victims, Ayoni Olani sustained pelvic and shoulder fracture injury and has been referred to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

The other, Emmanuel Yeboah had mild injuries and is responding to treatment at the Prestea Government Hospital.

Reports indicate that the six persons had gone to their galamsey pit to dig for gold as it is routinely done by them but were unlucky that day.

The deceased were Paa Boadu 36, from Abura Dunkwa in the Central Region, Doman Ballana 37 from Sankana near Wa in the Upper West Region and two others whose names were given as Sulley and Nkoalla.

The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the Prestea Government Hospital.
