Wales centre Scott Williams has suffered a fresh injury setback in a blow to Scarlets' hopes of reaching the Pro12 play-offs.

After missing seven months of action with a serious knee injury sustained at the Rugby World Cup, Williams returned in last weekend's crucial 34-20 win at Dragons and scored a try in a man-of-the-match performance.

However, he will miss the last match of the regular season against Munster on Saturday after picking up a hamstring strain in training.

Scarlets need a win to break into the top four and as yet there has been no indication on how long the injury will rule him out for.

Reports suggest, though, that Scarlets are hopeful of having Williams, 25, available should they make the play-offs.

That would also mean that Williams is available for Wales coach Warren Gatland for next month's tour of New Zealand where they face a three-match series against the All Blacks.
